So next week is VBS. I am very excited and I really hope and pray my special friend from last year comes back. My friend's name is Courtney. She is triplet of two other girls. They all look exactly alike but.. Courtney and a little different. She's blind. I dont know why I just thought of this example this morning... but I did while getting ready for church. Courtney really taught me something and the sad thing it took a year to finally hit me.
One day during VBS, the 2nd graders were coloring Noah sheets. Courtney could not recognize what color each crayon was so I was helping her. I noticed she kept rubbing her hand across her picture but I wasn't sure why? She then picked up a color and she asked what it was and I told her it was white. She didn't care and started to color with it.
I noticed again she kept feeling her paper and rubbing her hands all over it. Within a few seconds of going outside the lines with her white crayon, she gasped and faced me. I asked her what was wrong and she said... "Miss Ashlyn I just went outside the lines." I looked at her paper and said,"Oh no you didn't! I don't see anything outside the lines..?" She then grabbed my hand and rubbed it over her coloring sheet. She said, "you see? Right here is where I colored outside the lines." I could not see that she had colored outside the lines bc the crayon was white. She saw something I couldn't see.
This reminded me of how God sees what we are not able to see. Here we are coloring our own Noah picture... and if we aren't following God's will we color outside the lines. We pick up a color and we should be asking Him if we can use this one and then proceed to color. Yet sometimes we miss out and yet again color outside the lines.
It's time we step back and let God take our hands and show us where we've messed up. Its our turn to let Him rub our hands over our coloring picture and see where we have colored outside the lines.
Just something on my heart today.
